While strolling through the pedestrian area in Zielona Góra, you must visit an extraordinary landmark on the old town map - the Evangelical-Augsburg Church building at Heroes' Square, home to the Jesus Church.
This church was designed by Zielona Góra architect Emil Friede, and its construction was completed in 1909. The building features intriguing architecture - it is a church with a pentagonal closed presbytery and a faux barrel vault supported by a suspended beam structure connected to the roof truss.
Originally, the church was equipped with two bells mounted on the tower in 1936, but one was requisitioned by German authorities for the war industry during World War II. Currently, the Jesus Church tower in Zielona Góra houses two bells: the original one from Zielona Góra and a new bell from a dissolved church in Ludwikowice Kłodzkie.
It's worth noting that the church façade still shows bullet marks from a military skirmish in February 1945.
The Jesus Church in Zielona Góra is an important landmark in the city that is well worth a visit.
