Lake Łagowskie is a beautifully situated ribbon lake, nestled among majestic oak and beech forests and nature reserves, right in the heart of the Łagów Landscape Park. It is known for its crystal-clear waters that entice visitors to swim.
Located near the town of Łagów Lubuski, often called the gem of the Lubusz Voivodeship, Lake Łagowskie invites those seeking active recreation and relaxation amidst unspoiled natural surroundings.
The lake is medium-sized, covering an area of 82 hectares with an average depth of 5.3 meters. However, due to its trough shape, the bottom can be steep in many areas, so it is advised not to swim too far from the shore.
A picturesque walking and cycling trail runs around the lake, which is part of the historic pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago, leading to the Santiago de Compostela sanctuary in Galicia, northwestern Spain. Along the trail around Lake Łagowskie, you'll find artifacts and markings of the Camino de Santiago in the form of a characteristic sun on a blue background painted on trees.
This trail begins at the end of Paderewski Street, where a free parking lot is located next to a housing estate, making it a convenient starting point for hiking around the lake.
When you reach the northern edge of the lake, you must walk a short distance through the forest, cross a small hill, then a wooden footbridge over the Łagowa stream, and continue along the trail southwards towards the center of Łagów.
The lake's shores are very diverse, adding to the charm and attractiveness of the place. Deciduous forests dominate, dazzling with colors in autumn and lush greenery in spring and summer. The area around Lake Łagowskie is hilly, making it varied and engaging, encouraging exploration of marked trails and abundant with mushrooms, flowers, and various types of deciduous vegetation.
In Łagów, Lake Łagowskie connects to Lake Ciecz via a canal at Zamkowa Street. The canal itself is a tourist attraction, available for exploration by kayak or pedal boat, allowing access to two large lakes with many small beaches and piers around their shores.
Due to the area's popularity, the water quality of Lake Łagowskie is constantly monitored, and it ranks among the cleanest lakes in Poland with a Class II purity rating. As part of the Łagowsko-Sulęciński Landscape Park and the Nature 2000 site Buczyny Łagowsko-Sulęcińskie, the lake is partially protected, guaranteeing crystal-clear water inviting for swimming.
Around Lake Łagowskie, in addition to wild, small beaches with mini piers, there are numerous resorts and bathing areas with developed infrastructure. There are 15 modern vacation centers, such as the Leśnik center on Chrobrego Street or the large Lake Park Łagów on Spacerowa Street, offering summer cottages, a large beach, and a pier.
Numerous water equipment rentals and campsites are located along the entire shoreline of Lake Łagowskie, which are very popular during the summer season. Concerning fishing, the lake is known for bream and is managed by the Polish Angling Association's regional branch in Zielona Góra.
Lake Łagowskie is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Lubusz Lake District, if not all of Poland, and is perfect for both a day trip and a longer vacation. We warmly invite you to visit any time of the year!
